Arbela is an Avalon Hill-type of game set in the ancient period of combat. (Summary from Strategy & Tactics Magazine, Vol. III No. 1)

This game is assumed to be the prototype of what eventually became Alexander the Great by Avalon Hill, as the combat charts closely reflect what are in the Avalon Hill version. The are some similarities in the combat strengths and rules as well. It was sold in 1968 by the local game club, International Federation of Wargamers which Gary Gygax helped to found around that time.

The rules and charts are copies of the originals, made that way for mass sale. Text is typed out on graph paper with hand-inked, mounted, and cut counters. The contents were packaged in a ziploc bag.
